Students’ Federation of India (SFI) along with NSUI, AISA, AISF, Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha and other organisations protested demanding scrapping of NTA and resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan at Jantar Mantar on 3rd July 2024 at 12 PM.
Mayukh Biswas, General Secretary of SFI, addressed the gathering, he said, “The NTA and the education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, have completely failed in ensuring a just and competent system of examination. It is evident in the continuous paper leaks and postponement of exams. Our fight till our demands are met will go on and we will continue our fight against injustices to students.”
“SFI will continue to raise the demand for scrapping NTA on the streets. We are determined that this movement will not go into vain. It is a fight that students of India are waging against the Sanghaparivar government,” said V P Sanu, All India President of SFI.
“NTA along with the UGC and Central Government have failed the lakhs of students of the country again and again. The introduction of NTA in 2017 itself was an attempt to push their agenda of centralisation of education. Even after it is proved that it’s a complete failure, why are they hesitant about scraping it?” Aishe Ghosh, SFI central secretariat member said.
Amra Ram, CPIM’s Loksabha MP from Rajasthan joined the protest and said “Students, youth, are all on streets protesting against paper leaks, inefficiency in conducting exams, lack of opportunities, corruption in the system. The NDA government is ruining the lives of students. We will raise our voices against this injustice both inside and outside the sabha to ensure that students get the justice that they deserve. NTA should be scrapped”. Also Rajya Sabha MPs like Bikashranjan Bhattacharya and V. Sivadasan were also present.
Hundreds of Students under the leadership of SFI had come to protest asking their demands to be met. We demand from the NDA government to listen to the students and stop halting the discussions about NEET in the parliament. Tomorrow on 4th July, SFI, AISF and other left students’ organisations will observe nationwide Student Strike.
